At The Very Good Butchers, they are passionate about creating plant based meat alternatives that are satisfying and delicious! They use 100% Organic and Vegan ingredients to craft their plant based meats using local produce whenever possible.
“We began selling our products at the local Denman Island farmers market in the Spring of 2016 and were selling out within hours. We struggled to meet the growing demand and started to think of ways to expand and bring our products to a wider audience. We’ve recently teamed up with our new business partner, Mitchell, and have big plans to expand the company.

Our goal is to make good quality meat alternatives that are as accessible as possible to everyone, whether you are looking to reduce meat consumption for environmental concerns, are already a vegan or vegetarian, or are just looking for a tasty healthier alternative.” 

James has been a Chef for over 10 years, working in the UK and Canada. Originally trained in classic French cuisine, he became interested in vegetarian and vegan cooking when he moved to the West Coast in 2012. James handles all of the product and menu development for The Very Good Butchers as well as the day to day kitchen operations. Tania began cooking and baking in professional kitchens 5 years ago. Having grown up in a mainly vegan household, she has always been inspired by plant based foods and holistic nutrition. James and Tania met working together in a vegetarian restaurant in Vancouver, and moved to Denman Island with their son in early 2016.
